The Federal Government on Tuesday met with officials of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in a bid to avert the association’s planned nationwide strike.
The meeting, chaired by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In attendance were the Minister of Labour, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Finance, as well as representatives of relevant government agencies and medical bodies.
Speaking after the meeting, NARD President, Dr. Mohammed Suleman, said he was optimistic of a positive outcome, noting that the issues in contention had been resolved in principle, with clear timelines agreed for their implementation.
