The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in Osun State, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, has stepped down from the race and declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Adeyemi-Doro announced his decision at a media conference in Osogbo on Saturday, urging his supporters and members of the party to vote for Oyebamiji in the election.
He said the decision followed a series of consultations with his supporters and party members, including the state chairman, secretary and other senior party officials.
Adeyemi-Doro said his assessment of the various candidates in the race showed that the alignment with Oyebamiji reflected what he described as a shared progressive orientation.
He expressed confidence that the political collaboration would strengthen Oyebamiji’s chances of emerging victorious at the poll.
Responding, Oyebamiji welcomed the endorsement and assured Adeyemi-Doro and members of APGA of an inclusive administration if elected governor.
The APC candidate also said his campaign remained open to cooperation with political groups and individuals committed to the development of Osun State.
